Although the tone of the moderator’s (Carol Hitselberger’s) questions suggested that these obstacles forecast a very rocky end of 2011 and 2012 for ABCP sponsors and their customers alike, the sponsors on the panel, in particular, Maureen Coen, Ed Weber, and Vincent Fleury, were uniformly enthusiastic and optimistic about the future of the ABCP market. All took the view that any difficulty in marketing ABCP of any particular sponsor or group of sponsors would be temporary and that their programs would continue to thrive as they adapted to the new regulations pending.TOPICS: Asset-backed securities (ABS), analysis of individual factors/risk premia
